How to set up and manage related products

How to set up related products

To set up related products, you first need to create product groups. If you haven’t done that yet, CLICK HERE to learn how.

In the left hand menu, locate the TOOLS tab and click to open the secondary menu. Click the RELATED PRODUCTS tab to open the related products management page.

On this page you will see a PLUS (+) button. Click this to open a window where you can create related products.

NAME: Here you will add a name to the related products you want to link. This name will not display anywhere, it is only for the purpose of your personal organization.

PRO TIP: Consider naming this field by the product group or product groups you are linking as related products. If there are multiple product groups you are linking, include them all in this title.

SELECT PRODUCT GROUPS: In the next field you will see a list of the product groups you have created. This is where you can select a group or multiple groups you want to assign related products to.

For example, if you sell belts and you want to set all belts as related products, you would choose your belt product group. However, if you want pants to show up as related products to belts as well you would select that product group as well.

To select multiple product groups, press and hold the CONTROL(PC) or COMMAND (MAC) key on your keyboard before clicking on the additional products groups you want to select. You can also select multiple groups using the SHIFT key on either computer so long as the groups are listed next to each other.

Once you are done editing these fields, click SAVE at the bottom of the page. The changes to your CartLOVE tool should occur immediately.

How to manage related products

After creating related products you can edit and manage them and the general settings on the related products manager page.

In the left hand menu, locate the TOOLS tab and click to open the secondary menu. Click the RELATED PRODUCTS tab to open the related products management page.

The first slider is labeled “Enable Related Products”. Make sure this is turned on or your related products will not display on product pages.

The second slider is labeled “Ignore Related Products if Cross-Sell exists”. If you have enabled and created a cross-sell for a product and you turn this slider on, the tool will ignore if there are related products selected for it and instead refer to the cross-sell you’ve created when displaying recommended products on the product page.

Below these two sliders you will see a list of the related products you’ve created. Next to each one there are three icons under a column labeled “action”.

BLUE PENCIL ICON. This will take you to the same popup window where you created the related products where you can rename it or edit the product groups selected.

GREY PAPER ICON. This will allow you to duplicate your related products and will open up the creator popup with the fields filled out the same way as the product group you’ve selected to duplicate. You can then rename it or edit the product groups selected.

RED TRASH CAN ICON. This will delete your related products when selected and remove it from your list. You will be prompted with a “are you sure?” popup window to confirm this action.

Once you are done editing these fields, click SAVE at the bottom of the page. The changes to your CartLOVE tool should occur immediately.
